“Brennan is a powerful film about the reckless, raging fury that we call the love of God. It is a sad, funny, tragic story of redemption. I believe it will be a life-changing ministry tool that will be a blessing to countless people.”
– James Bryan Smith, author of The Good and Beautiful God
“With Brennan David Leo Schultz and his team have put together a movie that reveals the amazing love of God. This movie is for anyone who struggles to believe that God could love them.”
– Dave Mullins – Pastor–Producer Ragamuffin
“A compelling look into the life of a self-professed ‘bundle of paradoxes’ & his struggle to live the truth that he preached…”God loves you as you are, not as you should be, since you’ll never be the person you should be.”
– Fil Anderson – Author and traveling companion of Brennan’s
“David Leo Schultz brought us the Ragamuffin movie, allowing us to remember the life, brilliance, brokenness, and faith of a dear soul. With Brennan, David continues the vital story of abundant grace fueling dynamic faith and simultaneously touching the deeply wounded spirit.”
– Damon Seacott (Chief of Staff, Spring Arbor University)
“The apostle Paul speaks about “boasting of his weaknesses” and this movie, Brennan epitomizes that saying. This is a movie that embraces all of humanity which is central to scripture and shows the redemptive love of God. We had one lady tell us it was a life changing film for her. She is going to look at her husband differently as he struggles with alcoholism.”
– Pastor Bob Adams (Radiant Fellowship Church)
“Watching a screening of the Brennan Movie with some university students, the message was clear. God loves you, not as you are supposed to be, but as you are! If my students take to heart one message this year, I want it to be this one!
– Barbara Hein – Coordinator, Spiritual Life Services at Laurentian University
“I believe that Brennan the movie beautifully illustrates The Ragamuffin Gospel. In our desire to be seen and loved by others we are too quick to build a self-righteous façade all the while disregarding the truth that all good things come from Jesus. Where David and Color Green Films really succeed is in reminding us through the life of Brennan Manning that Jesus is perfect enough for all of us.”
– Pastor Joshua Culver (Clemson, South Carolina)
“I walked away from this movie and said to myself, what an awesome God we have.He uses the broken, like Brennan Manning, to share the incredible gift of His amazing love. Our community was deeply touched.”
– Rev. Dale Fushek (Tempe, AZ)
“In this film you will see God’s love and grace on full display. I sincerely love the fact that “Brennan” shows that life can sometimes be “messy.” If you’re looking for a film that shows the wild, furious, uncontrollable love of Abba in a life of a man that truly showed us all that the grace of our Father is neverending and far reaching. Color Green really picks up the mantle of God’s love and grace with Brennan right where Ragamuffin left off. As a former alcoholic, professional sinner, and prodigal son this film spoke directly to my heart. Thank you to all involved with this film for the wonderful illustration of the radical love of Abba for each and everyone of us.”
– Pastor Eric King (North Carolina)
“I have never seen God’s love and grace portrayed in such a relevant and powerful way as I saw it in the movie “Brennan.” Everyone laughed, cried, and went away with a new perspective of the depth of God’s love and grace. ”
– Dr. Milan Dekich (Senior Pastor of Fairview the Grace Place)
“An honest portrayal and rare opportunity to look behind the scenes into the life of someone many would be tempted to exalt beyond measure, only to see that he was, like the rest of us, thoroughly human and in need of love, mercy and grace as we all are. An inspiration for us all to trust in the love and acceptance of God regardless of our past or present and to let Jesus be all that he really is in our lives, especially when we need him most. This movie will help the hopeless find the hope to carry on!”
– Gary Eha (Pastor, Rehoboth Christian Fellowship)
“Brennan’s focus on grace is a much needed voice in the church today. Our church were blessed to see this heart in action through the movie to explore where brokenness and God’s love meets.”
– Thomas Hypes (Pastor, The Shepherds Fellowship)
“I’m so thankful for Color Green Film’s second motion picture “Brennan.” They continue to produce authentic films that demonstrate what can happen when broken people encounter the transformative power of the gospel. “Brennan” a beautiful piece of art that is honest about the mess we can make of our lives, and this makes the gospel even more visibly compelling.”
– Pastor Jared Lee (Bismarck Community Church)
I love grace. And I need to experience it frequently lest my heart grows hard with legalism. “Brennan” is a wonderful movie that made me experience afresh the grace of God as seen in the story of the two flawed individuals highlighted in the movie. It is a powerful movie for our loved ones to see who don’t understand the Christian message. The movie is a great reminder that God wants us! This movie does well in showing that “all that matters is Jesus!” I cant wait for it to come out in DVD so I can give it away. But for now I look forward to inviting friends to see it when I can find it nearby.
– Rev. John Hohe (Beautiful Savior Church, Columbus, Ohio)
“Brennan is all heart. David Leo Schultz beautifully intertwines the journey of Brennan Manning with elements of his own personal experience, and how it has been shaped by Manning’s powerful message of love and forgiveness. Schultz and Alpert passionately deliver performances that capture the essence of Brennan Manning and the strong connection felt by so many Ragamuffins around the world.”
– Colin Short (Director of Alumni Relations, Anderson University)
Brennan is a poignant, entertaining portrayal of a complex and gifted writers dance with grace and addiction. Humor and humanity carry the film through dark passages, as the author and his traveling companion struggle to find the truth of their faith in the midst of their flawed choices and destructive inclinations. Both the struggle and the faith are real as the movie moves from the darkness into a tentative light. The people in our community loved it and hung around to talk about all that was stirred in the story.
– Pastor Sam Howard (The Gathering Church, Carmel, IN)
“Hey I think it’s awesome when a terminally ill young lady falls from a tree and miraculously she is healed or someone that has had a life long battle with alcohol wakes up one day and never takes another drink. But what about those that are terminally ill that don’t get their miracle or those that struggle with addiction and battle and battle and battle? Brennan is their story. A story that is far more common place than the miracles so many of us desire. Yet a story that God can do some pretty amazing things through just like He did through the life of Brennan Manning.
Watching Brennan made me feel uncomfortable at times. Kind of like reading about Noah not the Sunday School stuff about being the only righteous man but the drunk and naked account in Genesis 9. Or David a man after God’s own heart but also his inner demons battling lust and pride. Paul writes so eloquently about personal holiness. Read Romans 6 it is so wonderful and hopeful of the life we can live because of the covenant of grace and yet just on chapter later or just a couple paragraphs later in his letter, in Romans 7 he laments about struggling with sin.
The point of Scripture and the point of Brennan is God loves broken people! He also has, He always will!
Brennan tells a realistic account of living in a broken world. The hero of story as the hero of Ragamuffin isn’t Brennan Manning or Rich Mullins, its God Almighty! After all, this is where true redemption is found.”
– Bob McCreary (Pastor of the Holton Christian Church)
“What an amazing experience we have had with David, Shelley and the Color Green Films Team. We were part of the Brennan movie tour and had rented out a local movie house, and had 200 people come out. The amount of feedback that we received from people was phenomenal. As people were leaving the movie (most with tears in their eyes), everyone was talking about how touching the film was. The storyline was fantastic, and the truths of the Gospel were clearly communicated with heart, so that the truths that we have heard a million times took on a new affect on our hearts. CGF has 2 homerun movies (Ragamuffin and Brennan) and I can’t wait til the next one comes out so we can do it again!”
– Heath Hollensbe (Seattle, WA)
